Wayne Rooney: Twelve Years At Old Trafford.


Wayne Rooney was born on the 24th of October 1985,he is an English professional footballer who plays for and Captains both Manchester United and the English National team. Wayne has played much of his career as a forward,but he has also been used in various midfield roles.

Rooney joined the youth team of Everton at aged nine,but he made his professional debut in 2002 at the age of sixteen. He spent two seasons at Everton and made 67 appearances for them with 15 goals to his credit at the Mersey side club. It was Rooney's stunning goal against Arsenal in 2002, that showcased him to the world as a player with great skill.

Manchester United signed Wayne Rooney for around £30 million after the 2004 European Championship.
The powerful front man made an immediate impact at   Old Trafford with a hat-trick on his United debut a 6-2 Championship League victory over Fernerbache in September 2004. The first jersey number Rooney wore when he joined the Reds was the No 8 Jersey.His debut hat-trick against the Turkish Side,made Rooney the youngest player to score that in the Champions league at aged 18.

In Rooney's first season as a United Player, the club did not win any trophy. Manchester United only managed a third-place finish in the league. Wayne Rooney was United's top league season  highest goal scorer with 11 goals and in that same year,he won the PFA Young Player of the year award.

In June 2007, Wayne Rooney was given Squad number 10,last won by Ruud Van Nistelrooy. On the 4th of October 2008, Rooney became the youngest player to make 200 premier league appearances. On the 23rd of January 2010, Rooney scored all four goals in Manchester United's 4-0 win over Hull; three of the goals came in the last ten minutes of the match. This was the first time in his career that he registered four goals in a single match.

After the departure of  Nemanja Vidic from Manchester United in July 2014, Wayne Rooney was named by Louis Van Gaal as his replacement as Club Captain ahead of the 2014- 15 season. Rooney was Manchester United's top goal scorer for the 2014- 15 campaign,but his tally of 14 goals was the lowest by a legendary scorer since 1982.

On 21st May,2016 Rooney captained Manchester United in the 2016 FA Cup Final against Crystal Palace, he played the full 120 minutes in Central Midfield,winning the competition for the first time in his career after a 2-1 extra time victory at the Wembley Stadium.

Rooney is an exceptional Player,a team leader and a strong personality. Since joining Manchester United in 2004, he has scored 246 goals. As a United Player, he has won the league five times, the UEFA Champion League Once, the FIFA club World Cup once, the FA Community Shield four times, the Football league twice and the FA Cup once.
