The last time Lionel Messi, got close in winning the World Cup was in 2014, when their neighbours Brazil hosted the competition. The Argentina team got to the final and lost to Germany, by a lone goal. Lionel Messi has told journalists that he desires to win the World Cup for Argentina and for his hero, late Diego Armanda Maradona. Presently in Qatar, Lionel Messi has inspired the Argentine squad and got them to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup. Lionel Messi and his Argentine team mates, faces an experienced Croatian team, that has improved in every game. The Croatioan team is also led by a veteran Midfielder, Luka Modric, who led Croatia to the finals in the Russia 2018 World Cup. Would Messi get to the finals of the World Cup, as he did in 2014? or he would be denied access by Modric and his Croatian team mates?
